Upgrades to our park areas for 2010/2011
25 June, 2010
With one of the highest percentages of dog-ownership in Brisbane, it is no surprise that Bracken Ridge Ward is well known for its love of dogs. As the owner of two dogs, I love the wonderful dog off-leash areas that Brisbane City Council builds and maintains to keep our fourlegged friends healthy and active. They are also great places to catch up with friends and enjoy the open space.
This year, we will be investing in upgrades to these important facilities across Brisbane including Canterbury Park, Bald Hills which will receive a $24,000 refurbishment of its very popular dog off
leash area.
The adjoining Barungwarra Reserve is also a popular place for walking, launching your boat and enjoying spectacular views of the South Pine River. The park recently hosted the annual Bushies Family
Fun Day on 12 June as part of the Hays Inlet Festival. The event was facilitated by the local bushcare group, the Bald Hills Bushies, who play a vital role in maintaining this natural area. The group meets on the third Saturday of every month at 7-9am so come along and help
protect our environment.
